Interruptions to Service

by uber

As you may have noticed, Blogcoven has been up and down faster than Sharon Stone’s knickers. The issue has arisen before with all the other pieces of blog software we use. The good thing is that the spam-bots seem to think that we have a “very cognitive site”. On top of that, we can apparently discover “sexual side effects” while still being able to purchase cheap prescription medicnes.

Seriously – who buys their medicine from spam? I mean, come on, whatever about spurious organ-enlargement or hair restoration, would you really buy the medicine you need to live from an unsolicited email or comment in a weblog?

Apparently, mortages and pharmaceuticals have become the highest-frequency subjects for spam. I guess that most of them are simple scams – you give us money and financial details and we steal your identity and ruin your credit. There is a trap for some companies – it has happened that otherwise honest developers and vendors have hired companies who then pass the information down the chain to spammers, but it’s hardly an excuse.

Luckily, most of the time, we have caught the spam at the door using the wordpress plugins. The problem now is the rate of comments, they are coming in in bursts of 50 or 60 at a time.

In short, sorry for the inconvenience, and please bear with us while we fight the Machines – matrix-style.
