Never ceasing

I mentioned recently that I often question reality, or what I define as reality. Last weekend, a plan to forge some semblance of peace (they call it “reconciliation,” I think) in Iraq was unveiled. I like plans for reconciliation. From the very superficial reading I’ve done, it looks like this one might not suck. One of the provisions would actually grant amnesty to some Iraqis who’ve killed American soldiers. (I heard this and thought, “Well, that’s only fair…I’m sure the vast majority of American soldiers who’ve killed Iraqis aren’t going to be charged for it.”)

That’s a keyword for another hot-button topic, though. Amnesty. That thing we weren’t even allowed to consider for Mexicans who hopped the border and have been quietly working and allowing taxes to be withheld from their paychecks for years.

Adam Felber said it best. Reading his comments reminded me of what an amazing gig it must be to be a satirist these days. It gives a body something to do other than regard events with slack-jawed amazement.
