Sean Hannity thinks other people are mean

Christopher Hitchins may got a little too far in his obituary of Jerry Falwell, but it’s great fun to watch Sean Hannity invite Hitchins on, only to call him ‘mean’. There is wry amusement in Right-wing attack-jocks asking for sympathy from someone they give the platform to.

You’ll be glad to hear that Bill O’Reilly has done nothing to draw attention to Falwell’s critics.

This Hitchins guys scares me. I don’t know how you look at the stars, the moon, and the sun in the sky and think that there is no God or higher power. You don’t have to believe in Jesus Christ specifically but how can anybody deny that there isn’t a creator of some sort? Also, I do find Sean Hannity to be a bit mean as well in his own way. He can be quite crude at times and brazen. He is also mean to Alan when Alan is so sweet to him.

Stacey might want to read some of the archives; rumour has it there might be one or two people around here who often look at the stars, moon, and sun and think there is no higher power.

I saw a bit of the Hitchens interview last night, and was just as fascinated as I am when I see people like Tom DeLay on Colbert. There’s been a lot of interesting “guest” moments lately, where people are appearing on shows/networks from the opposite side of the culture wars. (Geraldo on O’Reilly was great, and all this was sort of started when Colbert spoke for the White House correspondents’ dinner last year.) It often seems like the interviewer and the interviewee are having separate conversations.

Hitchens looked jetlagged/sleep-deprived. He also seemed a little unprepared; I’d have hoped for less ad hominem and more clever misdirection. I am surprised that he (and many others) have run happily to spit on Falwell’s grave. Even I shy away from speaking ill of the dead before the body is even cool.

I am indeed one of those who sees no Creator in the moon, or anywhere else. Unlike the more vocal people who agree to the same idea, I don’t really relish the chance to be shockingly mean.

Still, I had to laugh at this.

Is Atheism just a way of being mean to God?

We took a poll, Savage, apparently you’re God’s way of being mean to us.
