That question always drives me bonkers. “Which historical figure would you most want to have coffee/beer/dinner with?” I usually answer Martin Luther King Jr, mostly because I think I’d like to hear him speak in a conversation rather than in that speech that gives me goosebumps. After reading this story about Louis Armstrong sounding off about the ridiculous traditions of the Old South, I decided I should put old Satchmo on the list.

The comment that really resonated with me was this: “The people over there ask me what’s wrong with my country. What am I supposed to say?”
