And so the word came down today - from this Autumn I shall mostly be working in sunny Nigeria.
Specifically, in Port Harcourt. New Yorker had an interesting article about Lagos said to be more orderly and generally ok to live in and it still sounded a little grim. Port Harcourt has lots of fun kidnapping so we don’t get to go out much at all.
The work will be properly interesting and the pay should be good but really its the ‘I dare you’ nubbin in my brain thats saying I have to do this or for ever after I’ll be sorry.
It’ll be fine, we get a compound and some guards, and I think I can work it so I’m not on any of the Delta fields with the bunkering and the guerillas, just the offshore ones where the pirates aren’t so often a problem anymore. And when I’ve done my three years, after this I’ll be able to name my assignment - so long as we don’t have a glut of people moving that year.
It’ll be fine, I’ll probably be having some manner of leaving do at some stage. Stay tuned.

That Dragonscale stuff is pretty good, you should get some of that. Don’t bother with whatever the corp are handing out, those jackets have probably been used already.
