Technomusicography

Right, imagine for a moment that I spend a great deal of my day stuck behind six feet of monitors doing mystic black art reservoir engineering. My coworkers have visitors and long phone conversations, thus I have some very fine sound-blocking earphones and an iPod that is approaching brushed steel effect through wear.
However, one can only listen to the back catalogue of Gamma Ray so many times and thus I have decided to turn to the Intarwubs. You there, intarwubs, tell me what good podcasts are out there – preferably music without talking – TED or Long Now Foundation, while excellent, are not what I am looking for.
Any and everything from Hayseed Dixie through some new Trance would be welcome. In particular, if someones got a line of where I could get Type O Negative – Cinnamon Girl (I have the 1min version from the Duke Nukem OST) that would be spiffy.
Also – I’ve decided to resharpen some of my sadly rusted guitar and piano skills – cause gee, not like I won’t have time. There’s a music room here with all sorts of stuff, which should provide entertainment – but if someones got a line on a good tab/score site that lets you download and print that would be good – so far its week five and no sign of any mail – not boding well for my ‘I can get books off Amazon’ plan…

No idea on the podcast front, but as soon as I get my home broadband sorted out, I will send you some stuff.
Wow. I am shocked and appalled at the total lack of response here. I thought this one was going to be near the ultimate of softball questions.
I am so out of touch.
If you can get Pandora to work, it’s great. If you can’t Songza.com isn’t bad, although it takes a bit of setting up to build a playlist and so on. Phantom.ie streams Phantom FM, which is usually pretty good. A google search for “Streaming music” turns up a crapload of results too, though I don’t know any of them apart from those three.
Hadn’t replied ’cause I figured you *had* to know about Pandora and Songza, this is the kind of thing I’d ask you about, to be honest.
Downloading music isn’t really a problem, it’s what to download that’s vexing… unless you have firewalls and whatnot that prevent you from being a pirate?
Streaming music from http://somafm.com/ is pretty good. I like the cliqhop channel. I’m pretty sure you can download the MP3s… I dunno how it’ll work with the iPod, but you can get it from any net worthy compy.
IF you have an iphone, you can use “simplify media” to listen to music from anyone, anywhere who has iTunes or Winamp.
For that matter anyone can download simplify media from it’s website and listen to anyone’s music library. It is mac, pc, and linux compatible. It utilizes a variety of music players and folders.
