If you think you’re sick of hearing “Deck the Halls,” try singing it fifty-seven times while looking like it’s the most festive, exciting thing you’ve ever had the privilege to sing. I didn’t keep a tally of how many times I sang “Silent Night” this season, but I believe it hit triple digits. (And if you count it by the number of times I went through the tune, which means three times per run ’cause we’d sing three verses, it definitely got into triple digits.) If I never have to sing “We Three Kings” again in my life, I will still feel I’ve lived a full life.

The weird thing is that I still love Christmas music. I’m just tired of singing it. I think a high tolerance to Christmas music is a requirement for a choral singer.

Having discharged my holiday duties as a singer, and nearly done with my duties as a postgrad (ha!), I depart today for Dublin via a long and convoluted route: Hattiesburg, Mississippi, then New York. I will bring my computer and will probably check mail once a day, but I won’t blog.

I will Twitter like a fiend, however. Follow me (DixieNomad) across the country, 140 characters at a time, if you’re so inclined.

As time goes by, I have more to do and less to talk about. Well, to be fair, less that’s fit for public consumption. Most of my braincycles these days are taken up with two types of things:

1. Stuff that would make watching paint dry seem really interesting.

2. Stuff that is none of your damn business.

3. Stuff related to knitting. (Which sometimes, but not always, falls into one of the two previous categories.)

Last time something like this happened, I requested leave to include some extra content (knitting-related), and that worked out pretty well. Now, facing a month where I will either blog a great deal or almost none at all, I must address the issue again. I’ve signed up for Twitter and enjoy it. Would people object if I used something like LoudTwitter to compile all my Twitters (basically microblogs) and post ‘em here automagically once a day?

You need not phrase your answers in the form of a haiku, but I will give extra weight to your opinion if you do.

Somehow, someone injected code into this site that creates an invisible iframe with a link to a site that attempts to download the Trojan. I will be getting in touch with our hosts this evening to find out if we can work out what is going on.

In the interim, please remember to use AV Scanners if you browse the web.

I was most of the way through my morning blog-reading when I realised what day it is today. “Oh. Right. I guess I should say something.” So I will. It’s three days after my undergrad boss’s wedding anniversary and the day before his birthday. Some other stuff might have happened in between those events that upset a lot of people at the time and is still ruining lives to this day, but I’ve nothing more to say on it.

Last night, four of five Coven members were sleeping in my house. (The fifth was invited, but declined. Something about not being able to take a ten-day holiday on a fortnight’s notice.) I suppose that leaves the few of us still working this week in sole control of the blog, as I doubt uber or Kola Bear will check in before they return to the GMT. In the meantime, I have to figure out what to send people off to do during the day.

What should people see/do while in LA? I don’t know any more; I’ve been here too long…
